This is something I'd never done before, but that's no reason not to try. I conceived, wrote, storyboarded, and directed this video ad for the show. It dropped this week. Here's hoping it gets some chatter going. (Click the image to go to the video.)

I had a comic to give you today, but I thought I'd save it til tomorrow and show you these instead:

I'm interning at Remy Bumppo Theatre Company, and one of my tasks has been internet viral marketing. Part of the plan includes releasing one of these kinds of promo images every week for the next six weeks. That tattoo is my design, based on the existing logo for the show. I photoshopped all this together AND art directed the photo shoot the picture is from. Each week, there will be a new tattoo variation and a new picture. They get more and more scandalous as the weeks go on...

Also, today is the launch of my brand new complete redesign of the BoHo Theatre Company website. I'm especially proud of this design. Check it out!

Oh, and I was also art directing a photo and video shoot for the theatre company I'm interning for, so that took a good deal of my attention. I'll post a link to it in about a week, once it's finished. And Valentine's Day was Sunday, which was like an awesome little mini-vacation.

Fast Forward Challenge

So here's the deal, faithful masses: We've been spending far too long living in the past. There is no time like the present. It's time to march forcefully towards the 2010s! Change we can believe in. Etc etc. Even Lost has decided to give up their time-travel season and straighten things out, so it's time I did.

On March 19th, Dumbstruck will turn seven venerable years old. It will also mark the beginning of the end of the strip, as I long ago promised that, since the strip began with the Iraq War/Conflict, it will end with the winding down of the Iraq War/Conflict. Obama has promised to remove the majority of troops from the country later this year, so the strip will find it's natural, book-ended conclusion then. Here, then, is how the year will play out, for those of you keeping score at home:

By March 19th, I will be current with the strip. That's right-- six months will fly by in the span of the next six weeks! Most certainly this means a lot of good strips that I already have written and thumbnailed will be left on the cutting room floor as I draw and post only the best and most necessary strips. But fear not, because once the comic is over at the end of the year, I will begin releasing compilation books of each year, complete with all the strips that were left behind in the dust. I don't know how often these books will be released (every 4-6 months likely), but rest assured they will be attractive little numbers with full-color covers and creator and character commentary sprinkled throughout. You'll be able to have a nice little collection of my life's misadventures on your bookshelf with which to amaze your friends and impress your in-laws.

That's my nefarious plan, my darlings. I'll have some more fun and excitement for your eyeballs appearing on March 19th as well, but we'll let that stay a surprise for now. In the meantime, it'll be like fast-forwarding comics on your TiVo for the rest of the winter! Enjoy

Happy New Year, all! I had a great week off at home, and the new year is bringing some exciting new stuff my way. I hope it brings as much to you as well. The new year also brings us into July for Dumbstruck (still six months behind...), which means a change of job, a new play, and more changes and shake-ups as well. I'll continue to work hard at maintaining my 2-3 strips a week goal. Feel free to yell at me if I don't. :)

Wow, this December has been hectic. I've crammed a lot into the last three weeks, and my Christmas shopping still isn't done. I'm looking forward to January, and starting new things. Turning over a fresh leaf and such.

I'm heading home to Michigan for a very long Christmas break today. Have a merry Christmas and I'll see you again in the new year.
