Yeah, so, note to self: that suave and subtle demeanor you think you can adopt-- not so suave and subtle.

I'll hopefully have the continuation up tomorrow, Friday at the latest.

Man, this comic took me forever to finish. And yes, Chris is indeed a skyscraper of a man.

June 23, 2009: "Beginnings"

Wow, this December has been hectic. I've crammed a lot into the last three weeks, and my Christmas shopping still isn't done. I'm looking forward to January, and starting new things. Turning over a fresh leaf and such.

I'm heading home to Michigan for a very long Christmas break today. Have a merry Christmas and I'll see you again in the new year.

I'm posting this quite late in the day because I spent the first half of the day applying for multiple jobs and internships and arguing with my insurance company. How did I miss the fact that my current plan doesn't pay for any prescription medication until I've met by $1000 deductible!? Time to kick that plan to the curb.

And John was correct: G.I. Joe was the most fun I had in a theater this whole year.

May 5, 2009: "Sea Cow"

I think Loster Cow should be a superhero. Or better yet- a super villain! Yes, I can see it now: Spider-Man fighting Lobster Cow along the New York waterfront at the beginning of Spider-Man 4. Sam Raimi: call me!!

For those of you in Chicago, this is the last weekend to see The Tempest, a show which the Chicago Tribune calls "an intriguing mind-scramble" and says "there's nothing new about high-concept productions of Shakespeare, but rarely does it work this well." So what are you waiting for?

March 8, 2009: "Parenting Lessons"

Wow. Two and a half weeks between comic strips. That's not good. The simple truth is that life has gotten in the way: a new work environment that's less friendly to artistic endeavors, plus a lot of rehearsing for my latest play, and trying to buff up my design chops in an effort to get more freelance work. I'm trying to teach myself Adobe Illustrator. Have you ever tried to do that? It's friggin' hard! Illustrator is the least intuitive program around. On the good side, though, more stuff in my life means more material for comics... eventually.

This weekend I'll try to crank out another strip. I enjoy doing these detailed environments and all, but I can't wait to get back to simple three-panel layouts with only two characters and implied backgrounds. Oh, the simple life!

Also, just a friendly reminder that every dollar you donate with the little Paypal button on the left is one less dollar I have to make through traditional day-job means and the more time I can spend bringing you comics on a more regular basis. Jus' saying. :)

Wow. I forgot just how long it takes to color something like this. Thus the obvious 6-hour delay from my morning deadline. Sorry 'bout that.

I saw The Brothers Bloom this weekend. It's a quality flick. I recommend it.

As you can tell from the delay getting this posted, it took me a while to finish up.

Next week, we'll leave the country and get to Panama itself. Til then, have a happy Memorial Day weekend. Plus, it's my birthday tomorrow, so send me love!

P.S. In case anyone is confused, James is also an ordained holy man now and can officiate weddings.

I'm now back from my vacation hiatus, so onward with comics! I remain quite busy, but I'm going to try to crank out as many as I can in as sort a period of time as I can to get us reasonably caught up. But I've got a lot of stuff to draw...

I know I said that last week would be the last of the 2008 strips, but this one was too important to neglect. And I got quite busy at the end of last week with my show Red Noses closing.
