A year after I started work on Foliage as my undergraduate senior project, I self-published the finished 20-page book. I was incredibly proud of myself at the time. Keep in mind as you gaze upon the dense cross-hatching that this was before I had a computer capable of doing much in the way of digital lettering or grey-toning. Three years later, after I completed work on the second issue (grad school took up a lot of time) I pulled a George Lucas and reworked bits of this book and gave it a snazzy new cover for it's second printing.
